There was a hole in the ground, I saw a man in it. They filled it in. There is tar on top of it like sausage meat. I must go round it, I dance round it this way and I dance round it the other way. I always do it – all for me.

The gate is leaning over, it's bigger than me, perhaps it will fall on me. It is painted at the top and brown at the bottom. The gate is rotted and the house is rented. Rented and rotted! Funny words! I sing: rented and rotted! rented and rotted! rented and rotted! And I jump up and down. Rented and rotted!

Keep away from the lamppost, there is something nasty there. I close my eyes and walk quickly past and don't tread in it. I don't want to look. I want to tread in a puddle, but it's not there today. Who took it away?

There is always a funny smell here, every day it is different. The tar on the pavement is funny again, I must dance round it and not fall into the big hole that is not there. Oooops! I've fallen over again. The kerb stone tastes nice.

I stand up and run along the street. You've dropped your glove. I run back, pick it up and try to put it on my head. It is too small. The glove's too small, I sing and dance. The glove's too small, I sing and dance. The glove's too small, I sing and dance. The glove's too small, I sing and dance.

I'm all by myself, I must run and not fall over. I like running. Back again. It's me! Just little old me! Why do I say that? I'm not old. I can dance up and down. I can show you. Look at me dancing up and down.

Why is that nasty dog barking at me? I don't bark at it. How do you bark anyway? I run past the dog and don't look. Oooops! I've fallen over again. It doesn't hurt.

Another lamppost, I jump round it and again. It is round so I must go round it. It starts at the bottom and goes all the way up there. Why? Do they grow like trees?

I see a cat in a garden, it doesn't bark, it just looks at me, I go to it and it runs away. It has four legs. Can it dance up and down like me? There is a car parked on the pavement and I have to go round it. It does not smell nice. It is cold. It is too big.

A big person runs past me and I fall over. It does hurt. Someone picks me up. I don't want to dance up and down any more. It doesn't hurt now. I am going to run a bit and then dance up and down when I reach the end of the road.

I'm standing on the corner. I'm jumping up and down. I'm standing on the corner. I'm jumping up and down. I'm standing on the corner. I'm jumping up and down. I'm standing on the corner. I'm jumping up and down. I'm standing on the corner. I'm jumping up and down. It's fun when you get to the corner.

Mummy says that we must cross the road and she grabs my hand.
