idea for a story – two sides

an offcut from the StoryKettle.com

I am with a woman from an eastern land (perhaps Turkey).
We are in a Scandinavian country (perhaps Denmark).
She gets a piece of paper from a countryman,
who does not like to see her with a westerner.
The two pages are awful insults.
She is upset, I am upset.
Her friends and others tell her to ignore it,
it is not so bad.
She wants to leave the country the next day;
the taxi driver will take her to the harbour station
next to the park with the Great Ones
(world figures important to the land as statues).
No one wants to translate the two pages for me.
I decide to translate it myself
as best I can and reveal the truth.
