When I first started to write, I was amazed how many words I didn't know how to spell –
everyday words that one speaks but hardly ever writes –
words like sure and hardly and underware.
Oh, yes, I had a lot of trouble with the word underware.
The word processor didn't like it, but suggested no better spelling,
and I was sure that I had got it right.
So sure, that I didn't look it up in the dick and harry.
Two months later I decided to try underwear.
